Specialties
-
Breast and nipple pain during feeding can signal latch issues, positioning challenges, or other underlying concerns that disrupt breastfeeding. We will identify the cause, relieve discomfort, and help you feed comfortably and effectively.
-
Tongue and lip ties in newborns can restrict the movement of the oral tissues, making it difficult for the baby to latch deeply and effectively at the breast. This can lead to maternal nipple pain, poor infant weight gain, inefficient milk transfer, and challenges in establishing and maintaining breastfeeding. I’ve received advanced training in managing oral restrictions. We will work together to make any possible adjustments with technique prior to considering a referral for releases.
-
High milk supply can overwhelm a newborn with fast, forceful flow, causing feeding stress, coughing, or gassiness, while also increasing the risk of maternal discomfort such as engorgement or mastitis. Low milk supply may leave the baby unsatisfied and gaining weight slowly, often requiring assessment of feeding technique, frequency, and possible underlying causes. Identifying these issues allows us to create a custom care plan to get you back on track.
-
Preterm infants often have immature sucking, swallowing, and breathing coordination, making it harder for them to feed effectively at the breast. Our extensive experience allows us to strategically build these skills while protecting milk supply and ensuring the baby receives adequate nutrition for growth and development.
-
Gassy and fussy babies may struggle with feeding due to swallowing excess air, rapid milk flow, or difficulty maintaining a deep latch. We specialize in identifying and addressing the underlying causes to improve comfort, feeding efficiency, and overall digestion.
